Leaves of Life ©

Spring;
A time when barren trees detonate into canopies of green.
With leaves individually exposed, yet strong in numbers.
Dutifully shadowing the sun, sheltering the rains, protecting the fowl.
Thriving in summer's serenity.

As Autumn nears their inner beauty is exposed;
Striking in their color, uniquely their own, but oh for just a moment.

In time their vibrant hues can no longer shroud their brittle remains.
The strong grow weak, and the weak wisp away.

To those that remain the storms will assail.
The tightest of grips loosen each day.
The canopy of green is now a blanket of umber.

A few remain, deliberating their good fortune.
Among the remnants they feel alone.

Winter ascends, and surrender is near.
The last leaf falls, and signals the end.

Alas we are all but leaves in life.

True Calling©

I awoke this morning and nothing had changed.

My life goals and reality were clearly estranged.

The burdens I carry seem a Pachyderm's load.

And the cards I've been dealt make weaker foes fold.

But my destiny in life is not fortune or fame.

Nor the world to know me; on marquees my name.

Bequeath those to others of selfish descent,

For a life of giving is the life I was meant.

To lend a hand to those who have fallen,

Is my badge of honor, and my true calling.

So judge me not by the wealth at life's end.

Judge me best by the label "True Friend".

Christmas Bells

"Behold, a virgin with child, shall bring forth a son,

They'll call his name Emmanuel, God with us" now as one.

 (Long bell solo)

The star had led the shepherds to the place where Jesus lay.

A savior born in Bethlehem, upon a Christmas Day

The wise men that had followed to witness this holy place.

Knelt before the true king, humbled in his grace.

(Refrain).

Ring the bells ye faithful, ring both far and near.

Ring the bells ye faithful, ring for all to hear.

The babe He is our shepherd, and our one true king

So ring the bells ye faithful, let the bells all ring

The choirs of angels trumpet, proclaiming to the world

Born this day's a savior, a gift of grace unfurled

Fall to your knees in glory, for all too humbly pray.

For blessed are the faithful, upon this Christmas Day.

(Refrain)

The Virgin Mother Mary, and Joseph the family sire

Endured the scorn of others, for belief in something higher

Their Child, He changed the world, upon his humble birth.

Revealing a path to heaven, and peace to all on earth.

(Refrain)

As man would soon discover, the errors of his ways

And find a place of solace, in His Christmas grace

For God so loved his people, hearing their pleading calls

He brought his Son before us, the greatest gift of all.

Cave of Uncertainty ©

I came upon a cave with a shimmering light.
And the question at hand was it wrong or was it right

To risk the danger of exploring within,
Trapped in darkness if the light ever dimmed.

If I go too deep there'd be no way out,
And no one to hear my echoing shouts.

So do I risk everything for an uncertain fate,
Or risk nothing except a life long debate?
