One Inside ©
How do you tell a heart to turn and walk away,
From something truly special it's begging you to stay?
I think of all the people I've met along the way,
But few have ever captured me the way she does today.
With laughter deep and real, and a smile ne'er contrived,
Our conversations are fluid as the hours simply fly.
She'll never see her beauty through her humble eyes.
Yet every time I see her, my heart let's out a sigh.
A beacon from across the room her radiant smile and hair,
From others gets a passing glance; from me a lengthy stare.
And when she faces trials, I also feel her pain.
When the tears are flowing I'm standing in her rain.
The weight I see her carry down a rough and tumble road,
I long to lend a helping hand to help her ease her load.
At times I often wonder what her mind's eye thinks,
When tossing me a smile and getting back a wink.
She'll never see, or ever know the feelings that I hide.
I'll always see perfection for the one I keep inside.
